There’s something about the holidays that puts us in the giving spirit. When large companies give us the opportunity to make donations easier, I’m all for it. Macys and Aflac are working together to fight pediatric cancer with sales of the Aflac Holiday Duck.
Who doesn’t know the Aflac Duck? The commercials are definitely ones that you remember, especially with his well-known quack. The adorable plush Aflac Holiday Ducks are dressed to remind you of the holiday season and says, “Aflac” just like on those ads. This isn’t the first time that Aflac is working to raise money for pediatric cancer research, they’ve done it with their Swim With Friends campaign. They’ve been doing it for 17 years and have helped raise more than 75 million dollars!
To really bring across the message of giving and helping children with cancer, Aflac held a design contest at the Aflac Cancer Center in Atlanta. The winner was 16 year old Monica Sandoval who has battled Leukemia for four years. Take a look at her with her amazing design:
You can buy these limited edition ducks at over 600 participating Macys or get one online. They only cost $10 for the 6” duck and $15 for the 10” version. If you buy one at your local Macys, the proceeds go to a local cancer center for children. For all purchases the net proceeds go towards fighting pediatric cancer.
Even if you don’t make a purchase, you can still help raise money in the fight against kid’s cancer by tweeting. For each tweet Aflac will donate $2 for pediatric cancer research – a much needed cause. Just be sure to use the hashtag #AflacKids. Here’s a tweet you can use (just copy and paste it):
